We consider dogs as our best friend and even a companion for life but there are some people and doggy owners who think differently. Instead of showing care and love, they become cruel and abusive to their dogs. Dog abuse, in general, is not a taboo term anymore, we hear it in the news and even see videos of it through the internet. Unfortunately, some people don’t mind abusing dogs when it serves their purposes. The good news is that we all can help fight dog cruelty by first understanding what it is happening, what it means, and how we can help.
WHY DO WE NEED TO RESCUE DOGS?
The answer is pretty obvious, we want to save a dog’s life, reduce dog overpopulation in shelters, rescue and rehabilitate critically injured dogs and save those neglected once. Luckily for dogs, there are some people and organizations that support and care for them—in other words, Rescue them. Before we talk about these groups and what they do, let’s discuss the term Dog Rescue.
What Is Dog Rescue?
The term Dog Rescue refers to any effort to save a dog’s life from cruelty and abuse. A dog rescue organization, whether part of law enforcement or civilian, identifies animal cruelty, recovers animals from harsh living conditions and makes all effort to provide those dogs better lives
.A lot of cities around the world have their own dog control units that answer calls about dog cruelty. They investigate perpetrators and help give dogs new homes. At the same time, there are Civilian dog rescue operations that accept abused, neglected, malnourished, or abandoned animals.
What problems are encountered during dog rescue?
Dog rescue may provide help and support to rescued dogs but the same as any other organization, they encounter obstacles and problems. Some Rescue organizations often target certain species or even breeds. There are many animal rescue operations focused on Pitbulls, Golden retrievers, Labrador retrievers, and other specific breeds. Most people assume they’ll get an aggressive dog, so they choose the more acceptable breed of dogs.
Another problem with rescuing dogs is that most people come to shelters looking for cute puppies. They want a more adorable looking dog to take home. Good thing there is awareness to provide homes to senior dogs as well, as they also need love and care.
How Can I Help With Dog Rescue?
Rescue groups usually utilize a more integrated approach to rescue and recovery, they often use all possible ways to heal according to each dog’s specific needs and do our best every day to raise awareness surrounding animal equality, adoption education, and animal rights and welfare. While just for ordinary people we can also contribute to a dog rescue in our own way.
